Four FC Soldiers Killed in IED Blast
PARACHINAR: A captain and three soldiers of the Frontier Corps were martyred and three others injured in two blasts in the Kharlachi area of Kurram Agency. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the blasts happened when troops were searching for the militants linked to the kidnapping of the US-Canadian family freed last week. The ISPR’s statement did not give details of the blasts said to have been caused by improvised explosive devices (IED). Sources in Kharlachi town said that security personnel were combing the area opposite the Khewrha Post of Afghan border force. Three of the personnel were injured when the first IED went off. Tribesmen Protest Against Proposed ‘Privatization’ Of Landi Kotal Hospital
LANDI KOTAL: Workers of Pakistan Justice Democratic Party (PJDP) staged a protest demonstration against the proposed privatization of the Agency Headquarters Hospital here on Monday. They were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans condemning what they called “privatization” of the hospital. He feared that if the hospital was privatized, the poor people of the area would be deprived of medical facilities as they wouldn’t be able to afford doctors’ fees and costly medicines. Radio TNN
Fata Students Forum flays Fazl for opposing Fata-KP merger
PESHAWAR: All Fata Students Forum, a group of different organisations, have rejected the youth convention of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), describing it against the interests of tribal people and urged the federal government to ensure merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the earliest. Flanked by Insaf Students Federation President Akhtar Gul, Islami Jamiat-i-Talaba focal person Waseem Haider, Khyber Youth Forum Aamir Afridi, Kurram Students Organisation president Muhammad Saleem, Farhad Ali said that the JUI-F convention had completely failed as maximum of the participants belonged to settled districts who had nothing to do with the merger issue. PESHAWAR: Awami National Party central leader Asfandyar Wali Khan said that lines drawn during British Raj dividing Pakhtuns would not be accepted anymore.
