Khar, February 16, 2017: A curfew was imposed in Bajaur Agency’s headquarters Khar on Thursday, local people and officials told FRC.
They said that all bazaars and trade centers in Khar remained closed during the curfew which lasted since Wednesday night; moreover, the public and private offices including banks were also shut in the area.
According to the locals, all kind of transports, both public and private, were also remained off-road during the curfew which continued till Thursday evening. The people told that the curfew had badly affected the routine life as it was imposed for the first time in the region since 2012.
An official of the local administration while contacted confirmed the curfew imposition in the region on Thursday.
Talking to FRC, the official said that the curfew in Khar was enforced at 10 pm on Wednesday night, which continued till 4 pm on Thursday. According to the official, the curfew was imposed over security concerns in the region.
While responding to a question, the official told that the curfew was imposed only in Khar and its surrounding areas; however, the routine activities continued in the rest of agency on Thursday.
On the other hand, the local people complained the local administration for not informing them beforehand about the curfew enforcement in the area.
“We have been ignored regarding imposition of curfew in the area; we would not have faced the troubles like this, if the administration had informed us on time,” they added.
