South Waziristan Agency – April 19, 2017: A grand Jarga of Mahsud, Wazir, Sulemankhel, and Dotani tribes was held in Wana on April 19, 2017 where GOC 9 Div, Major General Nauman Zakria announced the reopening of Angor Adda crossing point on Pak-Afghan Border. The Jarga was held in Upper Camp, Wana.
Major General Nauman Zakria acknowledged the sacrifices made by the tribal people as priceless and said that they share the same history with Pakistan. He further said that, “the need of the hour is that we forget what has happened in the past and focus on creating a better future.”
On the occasion, Malik Masood Ahmad and Malik Ajmal enlightened him regarding difficulties and problems faced by the people of South Waziristan Agency. The GOC assured that these problems were being addressed and steps were being taken to ease the scrutinisation system on checkposts. He further said that no leniency would be granted to anyone in order to ensure peace in the region.
Other participants of the Jarga were Political Agent South Waziristan Agency, Zafar-ul-Islam Khattak, Commanding Officer South Waziristan, Scout Col. Taimoor Daud, APO Muhammad Shoaib, APA Ladha Naib Din, APA Wana, and Col. Umar.
