Khyber Agency: Lashkar-e-Islam associates kill a polio worker in Jamrud
On 26 October 2016, a polio worker was shot dead by militants associated with banned outfit Lashkar-e-Islam in Jamrud Tehsil of Khyber Agency. According to officials of Khasadar force, a polio worker named Fazan Amin was administering anti-polio drops to children in Sikandar Khel locality of Ghundi Area when unknown attackers on a motorbike opened fire at him leaving him wounded. He was shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex where he succumbed to his wounds. The banned militant outfit, Lashkar-e-Islam claimed responsibility of the attack.[1]
Orakzai Agency: Landmine explodes, leaving four wounded in Khadezai
A landmine exploded in Khadezai area of upper Orakzai agency on 26th October, injuring four tribesmen. According to Political Agent Orakzai agency, Malik Khedabad Shah along with his son and two companions got injured when a landmine exploded on his return to his home after 8 years of living as an IDP. The injured tribesmen were shifted to agency headquarters hospital in Hangu, where one of them is being reported to be in critical condition.[2]

Nowshera: Attempt to smuggle arms foiled in Nowshera
The Excise and Taxation department in Nowshera seized a huge cache of arms while pursuing a lead regarding a possible attempt to smuggle weapons and ammunition from adjoining tribal areas to Punjab. Soon after the authorities established a check post at Aza Khel GT Road, a suspected car was stopped and a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from hidden parts of the vehicle. The smuggler was apprehended and FIR was lodged against him.[3]
Peshawar: KP IG Police inaugurates new building for Police Assistance Lines
A new building was built on the premises of police lines to provide maximum facilities to the general public. KP IG Police Nasir Khan Durrani on 26 October inaugurated a new building of Police Assistance Lines (PAL) in order to provide convenience to complainants in approaching police. IG Nasir Khan Durrani said that KP government was trying its best to empower the police in order to make them more effective. He further added that, `a number of developed countries have separated public dealing sections of police stations from the police station buildings and have established special public facilitation centres that provide a comfortable and welcoming ambience to its citizens.` Keeping in view such examples, he said, `We have decided to establish Police Assistance Lines centres in every district of the province`.[4]

Sialkot: Cross-border shelling continues for third consecutive day at Line of Control
Indian Border Security Force continued firing mortar shells on Pakistani villages situated along the Line of Control in Chaprar sector, wounding eight Pakistani civilians and killing two others. Punjab Government has set aside Rs 500,000 as compensation for the families which lost their members in these attacks.[5]
Lahore: Roof collapses in explosion
The roof of a house fell when explosive material went off in Mochi Gate area of Lahore. The incident claimed the life of a boy and wounded six other people who were taken to the Mayo Hospital. While removing the rubble, rescue personnel found 11 hand grenades in the premises. The residents were, as they explained, unaware of the presence of such material in their house.[6]
Bahawalnagar: Suspected Lashkar-e-Jhangvi militants held
The Counter Terrorism Department conducted a raid on the Bahawalnagar-Haroonabad bypass and arrested two persons, allegedly associated to the banned extremist outfit, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. Explosives were also recovered from their custody.[7]

Sukkur: Turf wars claim four lives in Qambar and Moro
A clash erupted between two groups of Chandio clan in Qambar-Shadadkot district in which three people were killed and several others wounded. Another similar clash was reported among two groups of Magsi clan in Moro which claimed one life.[8]

Quetta: Trade organizations and religious political parties call for strike
A complete strike was observed in Quetta and other cities of Balochistan to mourn the Quetta carnage. The government also announced three-day mourning following the incident. The national flag was to remain at half-mast and markets were to remain shut throughout the day.[9]

Peshawar: Lawyers observe strike against federal government
The lawyers community of Peshawar stayed away from courts on 27th October against the failure of federal government to fulfill its promises to provide compensation to the families of lawyers killed in the deadly attack of militants in Quetta in the past month. The boycott was called by Pakistan Bar Council and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council. Representatives of PHC Bar Association and KP Bar Council exclaimed that the federal government promised to compensate the families of the deceased but had failed to fulfill its commitment.[10]

Khyber Agency: KP inaugurates an overhead pedestrian bridge at Torkham border
The Collector Custom KP Qurban Ali Mohmand inaugurated a long-awaited overhead pedestrian bridge between Afghanistan and Pakistan, at Torkham border. The bridge is built to facilitate the customs clearing agents in approaching political administration and custom offices. The construction of the bridge had been postponed successively in the past due to tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan at Torkham border.[11]

Diamer: Asian Development Bank declines providing funds for dam project
Diamer-Bhasha dam requires $14 billion but the Asian Development Bank has refused to provide the large amount of funds. They have called for governance reforms in the region, thereby encouraging private investment in the project. The project, if realized, will have the potential to meet Pakistan’s energy and irrigation requirements.[12]

Islamabad: Opposition remains dissatisfied over CPEC Western Route
Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, the chief of Qaumi Watan Party expressed dissatisfaction over CPEC issues after a meeting with government officials. The opposition has reservations with the development work being done on the western route of the CPEC.[13]
