Dozens of Security Forces Killed in Army Base Attack
Balkh: According to Colonel John Thomas, a spokesman for the U.S. military’s Central Command in Afghanistan, dozens of security forces were killed in an attack on an Afghan military base in Mazar-e-Sharif in Balkh province. Dawlat Waziri, a ministry of defense spokesman said that insurgents wearing army uniforms stormed a military compound in Afghanistan’s northern Balkh province. The siege lasted for five hours. Hekmatyar Expected in Afghanistan in Next few Days: Hizb-e-Islami
Qariburrahman Saeed, the head of the media section of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s Hizb-e-Islami said that all the obstacles in the way of Hekmatyar’s return to Afghanistan have been resolved and that he will return in the next few days.
