Baghlan: Militants Abducted the Head of River Basin
On 19 February 2017, the head of river basin was abducted by unknown militants in Pul-e-Khumari district of northern Baghlan province in Afghanistan.[1]
Nangarhar: Schoolchildren Injured in an IED Blast
On 19 February 2017, at least eleven schoolchildren were wounded when an IED (Improvised Explosive Device), planted by Islamic State’s militants, exploded in the Haska Mena district of eastern Nangarhar province in Afghanistan.[2]
Nangarhar: IS-K Militants Killed in Military Operations
On 19 February 2017, at least five militants belonging to the Islamic State of Khorasan (IS-K) were killed during airstrikes in Kot district of eastern Nangarhar province in Afghanistan.[3]
Nangarhar: Senior Commander of IS-K Killed in IED Blast
On 19 February 2017, Shakir alias Warak, a senior member of Islamic State of Khorasan (IS-K), was killed when an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) exploded in Badarghondi area of Kot district in Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan. The incident took place while the militant commander was implanting the explosive device.[4]
Ghazni: Senior Commander of Al-Qaida Killed in a Military Operation
On 19 February 2017, Saifullah Akhtar, a senior member of Al-Qaida subcontinent faction, was killed in a military operation in Nawa district of Ghazni province in Afghanistan. According to National Directorate of Security (NDS), AKhtar was commanding around 30, 000 militants from different countries.[5]
