Nangarhar: Airstrike kills ISIS militants in Pacher Agam district
On 3 November 2016, at least six militants, associated with Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), were killed while ix others wounded during an airstrike carried out in Pacher Agam district. Nangarhar is considered a stronghold of ISIS where Afghan and foreign security forces regularly conduct security operations against the militant elements.[1]
Kunduz: Civilians and the US soldiers killed during security operation in Pul-e-Alchin
On 3 November 2016, at least 30 civilians while two US soldiers were killed during a security operation conducted jointly by Afghan and the US security forces in Pul-e-Alchin area of Kunduz province. Besides, about 25 civilians were also wounded. The incident took place when Afghan security forces, while conducting a security operation, were trapped by Taliban militants. Subsequently, the US forces carried out aerial strikes in order to support the trapped security personnel which resulted in civilian casualties. Apart from this, three Afghan security personnel were killed and seven others wounded during the operations. On the other hand, at least 14 Taliban militants were killed while three others wounded during the security operations carried out in Kandahari, Alchin, Mullah Sardar, Kalta Tay, Hazrat Sultan areas of the province. Five militants were arrested and a huge cache of munition was also recovered.[2]
Faryab: Rocket attack kill civilians in Khawja Sabzposh district
On 3 November 2016, at least 12 people, including five children and six women, were killed while 30 others wounded when a rock struck a wedding ceremony in Kosa Qala village of Khawja Sabzposh district. The incident took place four days after the heavy clashes between security forces and Taliban insurgents in the locality.[3]
Kabul: 30 terror groups are active in Afghanistan, says Ghani
On 3 November 2016, the President asserted that about 30 terror groups are operating in different areas of the country. President Ashraf Ghani proclaimed this during his address to the Afghan security personnel.[4]
