Kunduz: Sayed Asad Sadat, a Kunduz provincial council member, said that Qala-e-Zal district collapsed to the Taliban after two days of heavy clashes between the insurgent group and security forces. Hizb-e-Islami Names 3,500 Fighters for Security Departments
The political council of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s Hizb-e-Islami said that they have drawn up a list of 3,500 names of Hizb-e-Islami fighters whom they want recruited into the security departments. Karim Amin, a member of Hizb-e-Islami political council said that half of the 100 military officers that have been introduced in the first phase are ranked colonels, Brigadier Generals and higher than that. Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) summoned Pakistan’s Charge d’ Affaires over Pakistan’s involvement in Friday’s skirmish between border forces at Spin Boldak crossing. The ministry said that the Pakistani border forces attack was a clear violation of regulations and that it shared the Afghan government’s concern over the incident with Pakistan’s Charge d’ Affaires.
