Paktika: Numerous militants along with a commander killed in Warmami district
On 2 November 2016, at least 50 militants, including a high-ranking militant commander, named Wahid aka Jamshaid, associated with Haqqani Network were killed during a security operation in Warmami district of Paktika. The operation was jointly conducted by Afghan security forces. Haqqani Network associated militants frequently target the security forces particularly in eastern and southern provinces of Afghanistan.[1]
Kunar: Dozens of Taliban insurgents killed in Dangam district
On 2 November 2016, at least 47 Taliban insurgents were killed while 12 others wounded during a security operation conducted by Afghan security forces in Dangam district of Kunar province. According to security officials, the miltants were planning to stage terrorist activities in different districts of the province.[2]

Kabul: State of war turning towards declared war, says Ashraf Ghani
Ashraf Ghani, the President of Afghanistan, while addressing a joint conference of security leadership, asserted that the undeclared state of war in the country was turning towards a declared state of war. He further said the enemies were facing isolation while the international community was behind the state in its war. Earlier in September, he had said that the country was engaged in an undeclared war with Pakistan.[3]

Kabul: US and NATO forces commander calls on Pakistan to refrain harboring militants
On 2 November 2016, General John Nicholson, commander of the United States (US) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces in Afghanistan, called on Pakistan to stop harboring the militants operating in Afghanistan. He asserted that international community, particularly the US, is concerned about moves which were weakening Afghanistan. Nicholson’s remarks came after Ashraf Ghani said about turning of undeclared war into a declared war.[4]
