Nangarhar: Security personnel killed in insurgent attack at Torkham post
Afghan border police force have suffered casualties in an insurgent attack on a border security post located at Torkham. At least 8 security personnel of the border protection police force were killed in the attack. The security officials have not commented regarding the incident so far.[1]
Badghis: Militants killed in a clash with security forces in Rabat
On 25 October 2016, a clash erupted between Taliban and security forces in Rabat locality of Badghis Province in which two militants were killed while two others were wounded.[2]
Nangarhar: ISK militants killed in a drone strike in Pacheragam district
On 25 October 2016, at least ten ISK militants were killed in a drone strike in Pacheragam district of Nangarhar province. Four other insurgents also sustained injuries. There were no civilian casualties in the strike. The drone targeted the hideouts of Daesh militants in the Pachiragam district.[3]
Helmand: Dozens of militants killed during security operation in Lashkargah
An operation was launched, almost a week ago, in Lashkargah city to clear the area of insurgent elements. On 25 October 2016, at least 21 Taliban insurgents, including a high-ranking commander, were killed in the ongoing military operation in Helmand province. Ground troops, with the support of air force, are carrying out the operation and are advancing towards Bolan area of the city. [4]

USAID surveys on working women in Afghanistan
A new survey conducted by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) shows that women present in government ministries in Afghanistan comprise only around 15 percent in 17 ministries. However, in the ministries of education, labor and social affairs and women’s affairs, there are 30 to 60 percent female employees. As noted in the survey, the main reasons behind the poor presence of women working in government sector include negative perception about the working women, harassment on the streets, and lack of appropriate working environments.[5]
Refugees returning from Pakistan are suffering in camps
Afghan migrants returning back from Pakistan to their home land Afghanistan are struggling to survive. Recently, hundreds of refugees have returned back and settled in Khairkahil village of Laghman province. In the camps established for the returning refugees, they are facing many problems like food, clean drinking water and proper health facilities.[6]
