CTD Arrests Five Suspected Terrorists
Lahore: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police claimed to have arrested five suspected terrorists and recovered suicide jackets and explosives. Lahore CTD team received information that some terrorists were hiding in a house on Abu Bakr Road near Saggian Bridge and were planning to attack some installation in the city. The CTD team conducted a raid and arrested three members of banned Jamat-ul-Ahrar (JA) who were identified as Sher Ali, Muhammad Ibrahim and Azizullah. Dawn
Woman Injured in Indian Firing
Azad Jammu and Kashmir: A woman was injured in Azad Jammu and Kashmir during unprovoked firing by Indian forces from across the Line of Control (LoC). Four Jailed for Attacking Police
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) awarded 34-year imprisonment to a man, Mazhar alias Azhar, convicted in cases related to possession of illegal arms and explosives and attacks on police. Imran’s Lawyer Says Omission not Dishonesty
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s lawyer told the Supreme Court that his client’s non-disclosure of the offshore company Niazi Services Limited (NSL) was an omission, not an act of ‘dishonesty.’ The arguments were an attempt by Naeem Bokhari to refute the allegations leveled by Hanif Abbasi in a petition before a three judge Supreme Court bench. The petition seeks the disqualification of Mr Khan and Jahangir Tareen over the non-disclosure of assets, their ownership of offshore companies and for being a foreign-funded party. Dawn
PM’s Son to Present Probe Team with Documents Today
Islamabad: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif`s son, Hussain Nawaz, will appear before the joint investigation team (JIT) for the third time since May 28, this time to defend his London properties and to present documents the JIT had sought regarding the Jeddah and Dubai factories his family owned. Sources privy to the JIT told that after grilling Mr Nawaz for over five hours on May 30, the six member investigation team directed him to produce certain documents in support of his claims regarding the legal purchase of four flats in London. Fata Parliamentarians to Boycott President’s Address to Joint Session of Parliament
The FATA parliamentarians have decided to boycott President Mamnoon Hussain’s address to the joint session of parliament. MNA Alhaj Shahji Gul Afridi said that the boycott was announced over the federal government’s decision to delay the Fata reforms. Nine Trauma Centers to be set up in Baluchistan
Quetta: Baluchistan Health Minister Rehmat Saleh Baloch said that nine trauma centers were being built on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route passing through the province. Talking to media persons, the minister said, “Trauma centers are being constructed along the CPEC route in order to provide immediate medical facilities in case of emergency or unpleasant situation.” Dawn
Students Launch Campaign against Drug Abuse, Trafficking in Kurram Agency
A group of schools and colleges students had launched an anti-narcotics campaign to prevent drug abuse in Sadda area of Kurram Agency. The campaign was named as ‘Youth Awareness Program.’ Religious scholars and local elders had also supported the campaign. Turkey Announces Rs 1.05 Billion for Rehabilitation of Flood, Militancy Affected People
The Turkish government has announced aid of Rs1.05 billion for rehabilitation of people of FATA affected by militancy and floods in 2014. Sadiq Babar, Turkish Ambassador, and Tariq Mehmood, Economic Affairs Secretary, signed a memorandum of understanding in this regard. $5 million will be spent on rehabilitation of people affected by military operation which was started in 2014 near the Afghan border. According to the officials Newborn children in Tribal areas having birth certificates would be exempted from any type of Collective Territorial Responsibility clause of Frontier Crime Regulation.
