Specially Designed Police Check Posts Being Built along Fata-KP Border
To check militants’ infiltration from the federally administered tribal areas into the settled districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial government has started construction of 130 bomb-proof police check posts. 12 such check posts have already been completed while the rest are being completed. The project, which would cost Rs800 million, would be completed in August this year. Each check post would be manned by 32 police personnel. Radio TNN
Bomb Found in a Tube-Well
Khyber Agency: A bomb has been found inside tube-well of a mosque in Jamrud market. Political administration called on the bomb disposal squad to diffuse it. Pakistan Joins Security Bloc Led by China, Russia
Astana: Pakistan formally became a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) during the 17th meeting of its Heads of the State Council. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev made an announcement to this effect after signing of documents by the founding members at the conclusion of the summit. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with a delegation, including Foreign Affairs Adviser Sartaj Aziz, Commerce Minister Khurram Dastagir and Minister of State for Petroleum Jam Kamal, attended the meeting. Regional Passport Office Approved for Miranshah
Establishment of a regional passport office in Miranshah Area of North Waziristan agency has been approved. This was revealed by Member of National Assembly Muhammad Nazir from North Waziristan Agency. According to him, the regional office would start working before Eid-ul-Fitar. Radio TNN
Sherpao Announces to Call All Parties Conference on FATA Reforms
Chief of Qaumi Watan Party, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, announced to call all parties conference on the issue of delaying implementation of FATA Reforms. According to him, people from FATA supported the merger of FATA with KP which would strengthen the whole province. Zafar Iqbal Approved Thirteen Developmental Projects for FATA
Governor KP, Zafar Iqbal, has approved thirteen developmental projects costing over 2.5 billion in FATA. He said that it was high time to implement paradigm of development in post-conflict FATA so that conflict inflicted people might get employment opportunities.
