IED Blast in Khyber Agency
Khyber Agency: An IED blast took place in Dogra area (Mandi Kas) of Bara tehsil in Khyber Agency. A security forces’ truck carrying ration was targeted in the attack. The truck was slightly damaged in the blast; however, no human loss was reported. Curfew Imposed in Bara, Khyber Agency

Kidnapped BNP-A Leader Found Dead
Kech: The bullet-riddled body of a leader of the Balochistan National Party-Awami (BNP-A), kidnapped earlier this week, was found in the Dasht area of Kech district. Dost Mohammad Baloch, chairman of the BNP-A for Dasht, was travelling to Karachi on May 21, when he was kidnapped at gunpoint. Two Injured in Nasirabad Landmine Explosion
Nasirabad: Two persons, including a shepherd, were injured in a landmine blast in tehsil Chithar area of Nasirabad district. According to police, the shepherd was moving with his grazing cattle when his feet hit the planted landmine which went off. Injured were referred to hospital in Quetta for further treatment in view of their critical condition. Security forces cordoned off the area and started investigations to arrest the culprits. PYO Rejects Rewaj Act for Fata, Demands Immediate Merger with KP
The Peoples’ Youth Organization (PYO), FATA chapter, has rejected the proposed Rewaj Act as an alternative for the existing Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and instead demanded immediate merger of Fata into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Fata-KP Merger Part of Western Agenda: Maulana Muhammad Arif
Maulana Muhammad Arif, member of JUI-F from Mohmand Agency, said that the recommendation in Fata Reforms regarding FATA-KP merger was a part of Western agenda. He further added that federal government was trying to impose their decision on the conflict inflicted people of FATA in the post-conflict period. FATA Reforms will be implemented after Census
Governor KP, Zafar Iqbal, said that at the moment the implementation of FATA Reforms was not possible. The recommendations of the Reforms Package would be implemented step by step after completion of census in FATA. Government Spending Rs 5 Billion on Reconstruction and Rehabilitation in FATA
The federal government is spending five billion rupees on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). According to FATA Secretariat, the amount will be spent on the repair of damaged schools, hospitals, clean drinking water supply schemes and levies check posts in post-conflict Tribal region. Special Attention Paid to FATA in 2017-18 Budgets: Qadir Baloch
Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Lt General (Retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch said that federal government had given special attention for the development and prosperity of the people of Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) in budget 2017-18. He said that that Rs 50 million had been fixed for Establishment of Nawaz Sharif Model Town in Miranshah in North Waziristan Agency and Rs 600 million have been allocated for the widening and improvement of Ghalanai-Mohmand Gatt road. Rs97.8bn Set Aside for Higher Education Sector
Islamabad: The government earmarked Rs97.8 billion for the higher education sector in the financial year 2017-18. Out of the total allocation, Rs62.1 billion have been set aside for the non-development expenditure of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Rs35.6 billion for 160 ongoing and 62 new development schemes. PM’s Health Programme to Cover 37 more Districts
Islamabad: The proposed allocation of Rs10 billion for the Prime Minister`s National Health Programme (PMNHP) will help extend the programme to more areas raising the total number of the covered districts to 60 during the upcoming financial year. The programme was initially started in 23 districts but Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed us to extend it across the country. After the proposed allocation of funds, the programme can be extended to 37 more districts. Dawn
