No organised presence of IS in Pakistan, says FO
ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office said that there was no organised presence of the militant Islamic State (IS) group in Pakistan. During his weekly press briefing, when FO spokesman Nafees Zakaria`s attention was drawn to media reports about hoisting of an IS flag in the federal capital, he said `media reports do not warrant any response`. ISLAMABAD: Terming it an attempt to `undermine national security`, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has lambasted Foreign Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif`s latest comments about activities of members of banned outfits in the country. `Kh Asif`s comments of ownership of militant groups coming from a foreign minister (are) undermining Pak security. Earlier, the foreign minister had to f ace criticism from the opposition parties over his statement in which he had stressed the need for `putting own house in order`. `AQIS militant` among five killed in Karachi encounter
KARACHI: Police claimed to have killed five alleged militants, who were apparently planning to attack a Muharram procession using a remote-controlled vehicle, in an `encounter` off the Superhighway. Malir SSP Rao Anwar Ahmed Khan said the deceased had been `accomplices` of Saad Aziz, a coaccusedinthe Safoorabuscarnage case, which had left over 45 members of the Shia Ismaili community, including 18 women, dead. The incident occurred two years ago when the bus the victims were travelling in came under attack near Anara Garden, a residential compound of the Ismaili community. Dawn

Three Terrorists Arrested In Peshawar, Bomb Recovered From Car
PESHAWAR: Peshawar Police arrested three terrorists in Achini Khwar area and also recovered a bomb planted in a car which was defused with the help of bomb disposal squad. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said an operation was carried out on a tip off and three terrorists, Munir Shakir, Faridoon and Arifullah, affiliated with a banned organisation, were arrested.
