South Waziristan Agency: Pakistan military orders tribes to surrender illegal weapons
During a condolence conference held for Major Imran, who was killed in an IED blast on November 3, 2016, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General Khalid Wasim issued orders directing the Ahmadzai Wazir tribe to surrender unlawful weapons and expel anti-state elements from their respective hometowns.[1]

Tank: A polio worker and his uncle kidnapped in the vicinity of Gomal police station
Ilyas Khan, a polio worker and his uncle, Abdul Waheed, were kidnapped from their home located in the jurisdiction of Gomal police station. According to Israr, brother of the kidnapped polio worker, unknown men wearing army uniforms raided their house on the night of November 8, 2016 and kidnapped his brother and uncle. The police registered First Information Report against the unidentified kidnappers and initiated investigation.[2]
Malakand: Militant arrested in Mingora
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Malakand Division, arrested an alleged militant during a raid on general bus stand in Mingora. The CTD conducted the raid following a tip-off regarding the militant’s presence in the area. The militant identified as Akhtar Muhammad was wanted by the law enforcement agencies in the wake of his involvement in the burning of a girls’ school at Mata, Swat, in 2008 and other terrorist activities. The militant was taken to an undisclosed location for further investigation.[3]
Mansehra: Police arrests ISIS militant in Mansehra
Police conducted a search operation in Mansehra district and arrested a wanted terrorist of the banned terrorist outfit ISIS aka Daesh. The police sources told media that the arrested terrorist identified as Naseem Jahangiree was involved in anti-state activities and was wanted to police with head money of Rs. 0.5 million.[4]
Mardan: Police takes 12 suspects into custody during a search operation in Mardan
During a targeted search operation in Lundkhwar area of Mardan, police arrested 12 suspects including a wanted offender while confiscated a large quantity of arms and ammunition from their possession.[5]

Quetta: Quetta under high security alert
Educational institutions have been shut in Quetta and a high security alert was issued in the province following the intelligence reports received by the home department, regarding the arrival of several suicide bombers, including women, from Afghanistan. They are said to be planning attacks on educational institutions.[6]
Dera Murad Jamali: Policemen shot dead on highway
Unidentified gunmen opened fire on two policemen while they were patrolling on the highway in Dera Murad Jamali. The policemen died in the incident while the miscreants fled.[7]
Zhob: Landmine blast in Zhob kills FC soldier
A landmine exploded when a patrol vehicle hit it, killing a soldier and injuring two others, in Shanozai area of Zhob. The militants hiding nearby opened fire on the FC troops which was retaliated and they were forced to flee.[8]

Muzaffarabad: India continues targeting civilians – Pakistan protests
On 8 November 2016, at least three civilians lost their lives in Indian cross border shelling across at the LoC in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan has begun protests over the firing, with India and with the United Nations Military Observers.[9]

Peshawar: FATA Students Organization discuss proposed FATA reforms at Nishtar Hall
A conference was organized by FATA Students Organization at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar, to discuss the reforms suggested by FATA Reforms Committee. The conference was attended by a large number tribal people and political figures including Member of National Assembly from Bajaur agency, Shahb-ud Din Khan. The attendants stated that the federal government should merge FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before the general elections of 2018. The speakers further demanded that the federal government should exempt FATA from all kinds of taxes and shall allocate Rs. 200 billion of funds for the tribal agencies before the formal announcement of FATA’s merger with KP.[10]

Mohmand Agency: New electricity feeder established in Prang Ghar tehsil
Member of National Assembly, Bilalrehman, inaugurated the establishment of a new electricity feeder in Prang Ghar tehsil of Mohmand agency on November 8, 2016. While addressing the participants of the inauguration ceremony, the parliamentarian hoped that the installation of the new electricity feeder will resolve the problems of low voltage in the region. He further added that the developmental projects aimed at addressing the needs and requirements of the people are his responsibility and the responsibility of the elected public representatives in the agency. The local people also expressed their gratitude to government for the establishment of the new feeder.[11]

Peshawar: TCKP announces tourism and sports activities for winter
A meeting held by Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) was chaired by secretary tourism & sports, Tariq Khan in Peshawar on November 8, 2016. The meeting was attended by relevant officials and concluded with decision to start numerous tourism and sports activities in the months of November and December.[12]
