South Waziristan Agency: IED explosion kills senior military official in Wana
On 1 November 2016, a senior army official, named Major Imran, was killed while six soldiers wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in Wana Bazar area of South Waziristan Agency. The explosion took place during a search operation in the locality.[1]
Mohmand Agency: Search operation conducted in Michini area
Security forces conducted a search operation in Michini area of Mohmand agency and arrested five persons for being in possession of illegal arms and ammunition. The weapons were also confiscated.[2]

Sialkot: Indian mortar shelling claims a life and leaves two wounded
A woman was killed and two civilians were injured in the latest shelling carried out by Indian Border Security Forces across the working boundary in Charwah, Harpal, Sucheetgarh, Chaprar and Merajkey sectors of Sialkot. Apart from retaliating to their attacks, Pakistan has also asked India to stop targeting civilians in such attacks.[3]
Taxila: Target killing in Wah Cantonment
A civilian was attacked by unknown assailants with some blunt object and was put to death while he was returning from an Imambargah within the limits of Wah Cantonment. As this killing follows another similar incident against religious leaders of the same community, in the limits of the same police station, it is suspected to have been a sectarian attack.[4]

PTI calls off protest; workers being released
After the Supreme Court’s verdict of commencing investigations into Panamagate scandal, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf called off its protest. Release orders for the party workers, who were arrested on charges of violation of Section 144, were also issued.[5]

Khyber Agency: Restoration of schools damaged in militancy started
The Directorate of Education, FATA has begun the reconstruction of militancy-hit schools, with the help of donor agencies, in BARA area of Khyber agency. Currently, 60 percent of the damaged schools are being rebuilt.[6]

Lahore: Agriculture and Transit to be uplifted in two development schemes
The Provincial Development Working Party has approved two schemes for development in agriculture and transit sectors, collectively costing 5.3 billion rupees. One of these is aimed at provision of climate smart technology package while the other aims at improving the roads from Heera Adda to Ghalloo Mor Ladhana and Pir Jaggi Sharif, Layyah tehsil.[7]

Thar: Development projects worth Rs18 billion begun in Thar
The Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah has revealed that in order to raise the living standards of the people of Thar, development projects worth Rs 118 billion have begun in the region. These projects promise basic health, water, transportation, and electricity facilities to the masses.[8]

Quetta: Quetta Mass Transit System project launched; first phase to culminate by 2019
With the help of China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) and the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) in execution, the Quetta Mass Transit System project has begun and it is expected that its first phase will complete in 2019. The first phase of this mega development project would cost 214 million dollars and during this phase, 10 railway stations, three overhead bridges and a tunnel would be built.[9]
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor
Malakand: Suggestion to include Malakand Road in CPEC put forward
Parliamentary leader, Sahibzada Tariqullah has suggested that the national highway passing through Malakand division should be made part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as an alternative route to the Karakorum highway which is prone to landslide. According to him, this inclusion will not only strengthen the CPEC but will also grant access to the Central Asian Republics.[10]
