Tank – April 20, 2017: Security forces, on Thursday, carried out an Intelligence Based Operation against a terrorist named Fazal Amin, son of Saifullah who was hiding in Sheikh Attar Village which falls under the jurisdiction of Gomal Police Station, District Tank. As per the findings of Secret Service Organisations, he belonged to the Mahsud tribe and was allegedly planning to carry out terrorist activities against government officials and Law Enforcement Agencies. Fazal Amin, on seeing approaching security officials, hurled a hand grenade at them and a fight ensued. During the fight, he blew himself up and died.
Fazal Amin was an important commander of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan and was an expert at contriving Improvised Explosive Devices. He was also a proclaimed offender in Gomal Police Station by virtue of Case 17 for the crime PPC 382/427/411/34 registered against him on February 16, 2014. He had abducted a few employees of Telenor Telecommunications Company from the same area.
CTD has launched another probe into his suicide during the operation.
