10 February 2017, Salag: On Friday, a freight truck coming from Afghanistan was blown up following a bomb blast in Salag area of Kurram Agency. However, no casualties were reported in the explosion. Following the incident, Qari Saifullah, the spokesperson of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan Hakeemullah Mehsud group, claimed responsibility of the blast.
Assistant political Agent Shahid Ali Khan told that a freight truck, coming from Paktia province of Afghanistan, was heading towards Kurram Agency. As the truck crossed Pak-Afghan border and entered into Pakistani territory, the blast took place in Bodki Khurlachi locality, about 70 meters away from a security check post. Due to the distance from security check post, no loss of life befell in the blast. Nonetheless, the truck was completely destroyed.
According to Mr. Shahid, the blast occurred when a time-device implanted in the truck went off. Following the blast, the driver and conductor of the freight truck were detained and security forces launched investigation into the incident.
Although Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan Hakeemullah Mehsud group claimed responsibility of the blast, Islamic State had also proclaimed, three days ago, to carry out terrorist activities in tribal areas, Hangu and Dera Ismail Khan.
Sajid Toori, a Member of National Assembly from FATA, has condemned the terror attack in Kurram Agency and appealed the President, Prime Minister and army chief to escalate vigilance over the Pak-Afghan border.
