ISLAMABAD: The December 1 death of another key al-Qaeda leader, Abdul Rehman al Zaman Yemeni, in an American drone strike in Wana area of South Waziristan has once again given credence to the Western intelligence claims that the Waziristan region continues to be a hotbed of the most-wanted al-Qaeda radicals, more than 11 years after the 9/11 terror attacks and the subsequent launching of the US-led war against terror. Abdul Rehman Yemeni, who was an Arab national with close ties to al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, was the 50th top al-Qaeda leader to have been killed by a US drone in Pakistan since the launching of the deadly drive in 2005. Yemeni was killed when a remotely-piloted drone targeted a car in Shin Warsak area near Wana, the headquarters of the South Waziristan Agency. The News.
GHALANAI: Two unidentified men were killed by their own bomb near a checkpost in Pandiali tehsil of Mohmand tribal region on Sunday morning, officials said. They said that security forces found four legs and other parts of bodies at the blast site. They said that the bomb killed the two men when they were planting it near the check post. The local authorities registered a case and started investigation.
Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen shot dead a resident of Shalobar in Bara and injured two others. Sources said that a group of armed men entered the house of Sher Qader on the night between Saturday and Sunday and opened indiscriminate firing on the inmates. Dawn, The News, The Frontier Post.
CHARSADDA (INP): A policeman was injured while mobile van was damaged in roadside bomb blast here on Sunday. According to details, a police van carrying cops to check post in Zareef Kore area was targeted through bomb planted by road side in Shabqadar area of Charsadda. As a result of blast a police cop Mukhtar Shah was wounded while the van was also partially damaged. The injured was rushed to Civil Hospital Shabqadar for treatment. Heavy contingent of police cordoned off the area after the blast and started search operation. The Frontier Post.
PESHAWAR: A bomb, planted in a motorcycle, was defused in Tarnab Farm area in the limits of Chamkani police station here on Sunday. The motorcycle was parked in front of Tarnab police checkpost located on Grand Trunk Road where law enforcers were checking vehicles. The in-charge of the post, Sub-inspector Sher Rehman, told Dawn that someone had parked the motorcycle apparently to target police. PESHAWAR: The government has rehabilitated and reconstructed the Bajaur Public School (Girls section) to provide better learning environment to the female students. Three additional class rooms were constructed and necessary furniture and equipments were also provided to facilitate the students. HANGU: Five persons, including a police constable, went missing from Kata Kanri area, police sources said on Sunday.They said that the cop Muhammad Amir and his friends Qadir, Israr Hussain, Muhammad Sadiq and Waqas went to Garab Killay in Kata Kanri on Saturday morning. “They were in contact with their families till the evening. However, their cell phones went silent later,” said an official quoting one of the relatives of the missing persons as saying. A search operation was launched in the area. The News.
BARA: The militants belonging to the banned Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) kidnapped seven persons, said to be close relatives of Khassadar Force personnel, from Sepah area of Bara tehsil in Khyber Agency on Sunday, tribal and official sources said. The sources said that around two dozens of Khassadars, belonging to Sepah Afridi tribe, were still serving in the force defying the order of LI chief Mangal Bagh.Mangal Bagh had recently asked the Khassadar personnel belonging to his native tribe to quit their job. GHALLANAI: At least two people were killed and two others, including a security official, injured in a landmine blast in Mohmand Agency. According to reports, unidentified persons had planted a landmine in Saafi Tehsil of Mohmand Agency, which exploded and triggered panic in the area. Two persons were killed and as many injured in the blast. The political administration said that the landmine had been planted to target a security personnel’s convoy. Separately, two suicide bombers were killed when their suicide vest exploded in the suburbs of Mohmand Agency. Online Daily Times.

PESHAWAR Dec 03: Two police officials were killed while two injured in early hours of Monday when a road side bomb went off in Sheikh Mohammadi Road in Badhbair rural area of Peshawar, FRC learnt. According to details given by Peshawar Police, the blast targeted the patrolling party of the police which was on routine duty and was carrying six policemen. The miscreants had planted the bomb in garbage placed near by the road.
