BAJAUR AGENCY, Dec 28: One tribesman was killed when mortar shells fired from Kunar province of Afghanistan hit a border village in Nawagai tehsil of Bajaur Agency here on evening of Saturday, FRC learnt.
Officials of local administration while talking to FRC confirmed the incident and revealed that a number of mortar shells fired by unknown militants from across the border landed in border village of Hasham Charmang, 42 kilometers from Khar.
“One of the mortar shells hit house of a local tribesman that killed one person”, said the official.
The deceased has been identified as Taj Muhammad.
After the incident village defence committee members and locals immediately rushed to the site.
Moreover the security forces in collaboration with local administration and volunteers of local peace committee launched a joint search operation in the area after the attack.
“Seven rockets and several missiles were taken into custody during the search operation”, official confirmed.
Security forces have arrested seven suspected persons during a joint search operation in mountainous areas of Mamond tehsil in Bajaur Agency and were shifted to an undisclosed location for investigation.
The local administration believes that militants living near Pak-Afghan border in Afghanistan are responsible for the attack.
Meanwhile the tribal elders and Peace committee members of Nawagai strongly condemned the attack and vowed to react if such attacks continued.
