KHAR, Nov 26: The tribesmen of Charmang tehsil of Bajaur Agency here on Tuesday announced to speed up their anti-militant activities in the region to stop the infiltration of suspected miscreants from across the border into the Pakistani territory.
This decision was taken at a grand jirga of the elders of Charmang tribe that was held in the border area of Manogi.
Hundreds of tribal elders of various sub tribes of Charmang and members of several village defense committees were present at the occasion.
The participants of the jirga discussed prevailing law and order situation in the area and pledged to devise a strategy for stopping the penetration of suspected militants from Afghanistan into the area.
“We have the very spirit and courage to fight our enemies like we exhibited in the past and we would never allow anyone to use our land for their anti-state activities”, said an elder.
The elders assured the local administration and the security forces for continuing their full support in maintaining peace and preventing cross border militant attacks in the border areas and vowed to take actions against the supporters of miscreants in the region.
The Jirga also decided to setup more pickets in the border localities for the purpose of vigilance of the border region besides the deployment of additional personnel of village defence committees at established check points in the area.
The participants and members of peace committee of Charamng tribe strongly rejected reports that outlawed militants are trying to imposing Islamic law in the area.
“No pamphlets have been distributed by militants that were meant to impose Islamic law in the region”, revealed the elders.
