LandiKotal, Nov 04: Two soldiers of Frontier Corps (FC) and a volunteer of Tawheed-UL-Islam, Zakha-Khel Peace Lashkar, were killed while two security forces personnel received injuries in two different explosions of Improvised Explosive Devices here on Tuesday in Landikotal tehsil of Khyber Agency.
The first incident took place in Paindi Cheena, a far flung locality of tehsil Landikotal, where the security forces personnel were on their routine patrol, accompanied by an armed member of Zka-Khel peace lashkar, when they were hit by the implanted explosives.
“The deputed party including two personnel of security forces and an armed member of Tauheed Ul Islam died on the spot when they were hit by an implanted IED while they were marching towards their destination in Paindi Cheena area”, told an official of political administration to FRC.
The deceased have been identified as Ameen Jan and Hameed Khan while the injured was identified as Rehmat Ullah who was local of Landikotal.
The second incident took place in the Zakha Khel bazaar of Landikotal that left two soldiers wounded.
After the incidents security forces and Peace Lashkar members cordoned off the areas and started search operations while the injured were airlifted to military run hospital in Peshawar.
The development comes amid launched “Operation Khyber I” in Akka-Khel area of Khyber Agency against the miscreants. In the operation the military has been using aerial and ground forces against the militants and have reportedly targeting militant hideouts with intervals. The operation was launched on 17th October 2014 however the military sources haven’t yet declared its expected time of completion.
