BAJAUR AGENCY, Sept 30: A personnel of Bajaur levies force received serious injuries in a road side bomb blast here at Regay area in tehsil Mamond of Bajaur Agency here on Monday, FRC learnt.
The officials of the political administration and residents of the area confirmed the incident that happened in the remote area of Regay located 25 km away from Khar, the administrative head quarters of Bajaur Agency.
According to details the personnel of security forces were on way to Regay locality in a pickup van to escort the anti-polio teams in the area when an implanted road side remote controlled explosive device went off with a big bang.
“Faqir Shah, personnel of Bajaur levies force, sustained wounds in the blast while his other three companions remained safe”, an official of the administration told.
Soon after the blast security personnel, stationed in Bajaur Agency, rushed immediately to the site and cordoned off the area. However, later on the injured was taken to the agency head quarter hospital Khar for medical aid.
The local political administration, in collaboration with Bajaur levies force and members of Village Defense Committee, launched a search operation in the area and, according to reports, apprehended six suspected persons.
A three days anti polio drive was launched in Bajaur Agency on Monday in which around 2,23,890 children will be administered oral polio vaccine.
The local administration has increased the security of polio teams and fool proof security arrangements have been made for the health teams across the agency to prevent any untoward incident during the launched drive.
