BAJAUR AGENCY, July4, 2012: Tribal elders and workers of different religious and political parties of Bajaur tribal region have strongly opposed the restoration of NATO supply route, saying that restoration of supply routes to the NATO forces could put negative impact over the law and order and the economic situation of the country.
Talking to reporter here on Wednesday, Jamaat-e-Islami Fata Ameer and ex-member National Assembly Sahib Zada Haroon-ur-Rasheed said that the government decision to reopen NATO supply route was absolutely wrong and against the country sovereignty.
“The restoration of NATO supply route was not in the country interest and it could put negative impacts over the country situation,” he added.
The JI leader said that the decision of reopening of the NATO supply line by the federal government was the result of the pressure of the US government as it could not face US pressure.
“The government should realize the feelings of the people and must review the decision otherwise, JI would launch a massive agitation against the government,” he said.
Jamait-Ulma-Islam Bajaur Ameer and former MNA, Maulana Mohammad Sadiq has strongly condemned the government decision of NATO restoration supply routes and has said that the decision would further damage dignity of the country because the US did not make official apology for the death of the soldiers killed in the Salala Attack.
“The government should obey the parliament resolution as the NATO supply was suspended on the recommendation of parliament,” he said. He warned that the decision would put the country in more crises as it was totally against the country interest.
Jamait-Ulma-Islam Bajaur General Secretary and ex-senator Maulana Abdur-Rasheed said that the restoration of NATO supply line has disappointed the people of the country and particularly the tribesmen.
He further said that the government had claimed that US drone attacks in the tribal areas would be stopped but US still carrying drone strikes in the area which is resulting in the killing of hundreds of innocent tribesmen. He asked the government to explain the conditions to the nation on the basis of which NATO supply line was restored. “If the government does not take the people into confidence, the decision would put bad impact on the country law and order situation,” he added.
JI Bajaur Maulna Wahid Gul has said that the decision of the NATO supply line was totally against the interest of the country because it would put the country in further crisis. “Our party will never accept the decision because the resuming of the NATO supply routes was a result of the pressure from the US,” he said. Among the other notables Pakistan Mulslim League (N) senior leader Haji Rahat Yousa, chief of Salarzai Qumi lashkar Shahab-u-ddin Khan also rejected the government decision on reopening the NATO supply routes while considering it against the national interest.
