Bannu, Feb 14: A fierce battle erupted between Taliban and the security forces here on Thursday morning near Maryan Police Station at Bannu, in which Six Taliban were killed. However in the cross fire one security personnel was also injured, FRC Field Reporter learnt.
According to details the battle started around 6 am in the morning and continued till 9 am. The attempt of Taliban to enter into the police station was foiled by the security forces.
During the operation security forces and Police cordoned off all the routes leading towards Maryan Police Station prohibiting the entrance to the area.
DIG Police Nisar Ahmad Tanoli while talking to FRC revealed that around 6am some armed men attempted to enter into Maryan Police Station however timely action of security personnel repulsed the attempt successfully.
“The Taliban attacked Maryan Police Station, but personnel of F.C and police deployed on the Police Station responded with firing and foiled their attempt”, said the DIG.
“In the battle six Taliban fighters were killed while one of our staff members is also injured”, said the DIG.
DSP Bannu Police Headquarters, Ismail Khan, also confirmed the incident and the consequent killings. “It was around 6am when one of our guard came under heavy fire from the militants who were approaching them”, said Mr. Khan.
“They were hurling hand grenades towards security personnel but failed to approach them”, further added by the DSP.
Ehsanullah Ehsan, central spokesperson of TTP, claimed the responsibility of the incident while talking to our reporter through telephone. He regarded this attack as avenge of 9 militants killed by security forces in North Waziristan in 2012.
