Islamabad, June 18: At least four suspected militants have been killed when US Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) fired six missiles targeting a compound and a vehicle here in Miranshah tehsil of North Waziristan Agency during the early hours of Wednesday, FRC learnt.
The UAV targeted Dargah Mandi village in Miranshah at a time when a full fledge military operation has been going on there.
According to initial reports the UAV targeted a compound assumed to be under the possession of foreign militants, however, it is difficult at this moment to ascertain the killings and their identifications from the respective political administration owing to the ongoing military operation in the region.
It was the third drone attack in the agency during this month as the last one happened on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, June 12, resultantly killing fourteen militants.
United States resumed targeting militants in troubled region of Pakistan through drones after five and a half months halt. According to reports these were halted upon the Pakistan diplomatic pressure on USA as the civilian government in Pakistan proposed peace dialogue with the insurgents since the start of the current year that unfortunately collapsed few weeks ago.
The government of Pakistan launched a comprehensive military operation in restive North Waziristan Agency on June 15, 2014 to wipe out the militants that have been creating hurdles for the government across Pakistan.
According to last reports the military, using the Jet fighters, have killed around 150 militants, including local and foreigners, since the start of the offensive. A large number of people have migrated from the agency and those being trapped in the area have been given two days relaxation in the imposed curfew in the agency to escape.
Today many people left the agency in shape of convoys to the adjacent Bannu district and yet most of them prefers to march to Afghanistan.
