Nangarhar: Two Pakistanis belonging to Lashkar-e-Islam arrested in Achin district
On 6 November 2016, two Pakistani nationals belonging to Lashkar-e-Islam were arrested by the Afghan Security Forces as they arrived in Achin district of Nangarhar province. The suspects were originally residents of Khyber Agency in Pakistan and were identified as Jan Mohammad and Jinad.[1]
Kabul: Australian NGO worker kidnapped in Kabul city
An Australian woman was kidnapped at gunpoint in Qala-e-Fatullah in Kabul on 5 November 2016. The woman, who has not been named, is believed to be working for an NGO. According to eyewitnesses, the roads in the area where the kidnapping took place were immediately cordoned off by security forces. No details have however been released.[2]
Ghazni: Four insurgents killed and 12 wounded in security operation in Waghiz district
On 6 November 2016, four insurgents were killed and 12 others were injured during a security operation launched in Waghiz district of Ghazni province. The operation was launched following an insurgent attacked the security check post.[3]
Paktika: Insurgents suffering casualties in clearance operation in Tormey and Rame
At least three insurgents were killed in a clearance operation carried out by Afghan Security Forces in Tormey and Rame districts of Paktika province.[4]
Balkh: Three suspects arrested in Mazar-e-Sharif city
On 6 November 2016, at least three suspects were arrested as they were transporting rockets and some other military equipment to Mazar city via Baghlan. The suspects were on their way from capital Kabul to Mazar city when they were spotted and arrested by the police forces. The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.[5]

Kabul: Several meetings held to resolve Ghani-Abdullah rift remained unsuccessful
The National Unity Government (NUG) leaders have met with each other several times in recent days but they have not resolved their disagreements over a few matters. A Number of meetings were held between the NUG leaders before and after the Brussels Summit, but a lot of issues still need to be discussed.[6]

Nagarhar: Peshawar-Torkham Road Reopens after few hours’ tension
A paramilitary post came under attack from militants in Pakistan’s Khyber tribal region which caused the Peshawar-Torkham road closure for several hours. It was however reopened later on 6 November.[7]
