LeJ Al-Alami Claims Responsibility for Professor’s Murder
Lahore: Banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi al-Alami claimed responsibility for killing a retired professor belonging to the Ahamdi community. Dr Ashfaq Ahmad, 68, a nutritionist by profession and a retired professor of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, was going along with his grandson and another relative by a car when near Shah Fareed Chowk, the attacker shot him in the head and fled the scene. Militant Killed in Clash
Gwadar: A suspected militant was killed in an intelligence based operation carried out by security forces in the Bal-Nagor area of Kech district. The operation was carried out in Domb Kaliro area. ‘Key Militant’ Surrenders
Quetta: The `commander` of a banned militant organization, Ali Muhammad, surrendered himself to senior officers of the Frontier Corps at a ceremony in Sui town. He said he was abandoning the armed struggle and would join mainstream politics. Explosives-Laden Vehicle Seized; Man, Arrested
Quetta: Security forces foiled a subversive act by seizing an explosives-laden vehicle and arresting a suspect during a raid in the border town of Chaman. Official sources said the raid was conducted on a tip-off, adding the explosives had been brought into Pakistan from across the border. The suspect, whose identity was not disclosed, was handed over to the authorities concerned for interrogation.Dawn
Two Civilians Injured in Indian Firing from Across LoC
Azad Jammu and Kashmir: Ceasefire violations by Indian troops left two civilians injured in Samahni sector of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Rangers, Police Seize Weapons in Raid
Karachi: Paramilitary soldiers claimed that they had seized a big cache of weapons belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) in an intelligence-based raid on the Government Primary School in 100 Quarters, Saeedabad, Baldia Town.
