Tank, March 4, 2013: Oath taking ceremony of newly elected cabinet of Wana Press Club (WPC) held in the office of Political Agent in district Tank on Friday, FRC field reporter reported.
According to the details the oath taking ceremony was held in the Jarga Hall at the Political Agent’s offiece in Tank which has been attended by senior journalists of Tribal Union of Journalist (TUJ) along with other local journalists and lawyers.
The ceremony turned into multi-purposed event when a protest rally held against the killing of Malik Mumtaz, killed few days ago in North Waziristan by unknown people.
Founder of the TUJ Sailab Mahsud, a senior journalist, while condemning the murder of Malik Mumtaz said that his death has been considered a barrier for free journalism in FATA in particular and in Pakistan in general. “Malik Mumtaz’s brutal murder gave a very wrong message to the world against free journalism” Mr. Sailab Mahsud said.
The Political Agent of South Waziristan Agency, Shahidullah Khan while addressing to the participants in the ceremony said that a survey is going in the Mahsud portion of South Waziristan which would report the material loses of the Mahsud IDPs. The survey report will be submitted to FATA Secretariat by 15th of March 2013.
Mr. Shahidullah also announced 0.15 million rupees grant for reconstruction of Wana Press Club, the construction of Ladha Press Club along with other allowances for the journalists community.
