Tank, 15 May 2016: Barakat Ali, the deputy of Gomal Peace Committee in District Tank of Khyber Pakhtunkwa province of Pakistan, was gunned down by unidentified gunmen, here on Sunday, FRC learnt.
According to locals, at midnight on 14 May unknown assailants broke into Barakat Ali’s house while he was sleeping, and shot him dead. The assailant managed to flee the scene.
“We found him (Barakat Ali) dead in his house. He was shot multiple times”, said a local.
Till the filing of the report, none of the militant groups had claimed responsibility for the attack. However, it is suspected that militants of Khan Said Group (Mehsud Taliban) of South Waziristan may be behind the incident to avenge the killing of one his fighter by Barakat Ali sometime in the past.
Barakat Ali was the deputy of Gomal Peace Committee and was very active against militant groups in present in the area.
