KHAR, Aug 6, 2015: The local administration, during a ceremony announced to initiated a scheme in collaboration with SKW life for limbs loss charitable foundation, a US based non-governmental organization for the wellbeing of local inhabitants faced with physical disabilities by offering them artificial limbs and basic needs in Bajaur agency, here on Thursday, FRC learnt.
Officials of the local administration, tribal elders, persons with physical disabilities, representatives of All Bajaur Disabled persons association and SKW foundation attended the ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, Shah Khaild an official of SKW life for limbs loss foundation highlighted the aims of the scheme, saying that the scheme has been designed for the welfare of disabled persons in the region.
“The aims of the scheme is to help the disable and marginalized people to stand them on their own feet by providing a number of needs and facilities including free of cast artificial limbs, wheel chairs and sewing machines to physically challenged persons across the agency,” reveled Shah Khaild.
Several amenities including free of cast artificial limbs, wheel chairs, sewing machines and vocational training would be provided to disabled persons both male and female of the agency, added Shah Khalid.
Speaking on the occasion official of local administration shed light on the escalating number in the agency as a consequence of exacerbating militancy, counter militancy activities and natural disasters during past one decade and half.
“Militancy, floods, road accidents and medical mistakes are the major causes of growing of people physical disabilities in different areas of the agency and the scheme would support to overcome the major problems being faced by the disabled person,” Said official of local administration.
People with physical challenges on the occasion thanked the administration and SKW organization for launching the scheme in the agency.
